Everyone (myself included) has been talking about the T and R from
the blackboard as being part of some code.

Naughty people. No one has even mentioned the obvious point:

R - Ronnette
T - Teressa Banks (remember her from a year ago)

How about L for Laura ? Maybe it was elsewhere on the blackboard.
That's your job to figure out.
