Subject: Twin Peaks casino From: kem@csri.toronto.edu (Kem Luther) Date: 1990-05-01, 11:54 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks Musings about the casino/brothel (One-eyed Jacks): Where in the area under discussion is it legal to have a casino? I think in the U.S. you have to go south to Nevada to blow your wad. In Canada only the government can run houses of gambling (read: lotteries), and there are no casinos like the one in TP. However, there are Indian reservations in some U.S. states where casinos are legal (e.g., Oklahoma, New York). The one in NY (recently in the news) straddles the US/Canada border. Could the casino in question be on an border- spanning Indian reservation? Plot implications? As has been pointed out, in the one-armed man's speech in the dream "chance house" may be code for casino, "convenience store" may be where one purchases "ladies of convenience" and it is "between two worlds" (on the border). Isn't firewalking a tradition in some North American Indian cultures?
