It did seem obvious that he was "getting in character". Kaufman's _Elvis_ does leap to memory, doesn't it? Now, if we can just find a _Mighty Mouse_ mention, too... :-) In article <1990Aug23.031129.7956@mintaka.lcs.mit.edu> dan@gnu.ai.mit.edu (Dan "Parmenator-X" Parmenter) writes: > >I'm begining to think that the distinctions between Lynch's films are > >starting to fade. It's all one big story. How it fits, I dunno. This wouldn't be at all surprising. All of Thomas Pynchon's stories seem to occur in a common universe, in which characters and corporations that are clearly fictional inventions (eg, Yoyodyne) recur frequently. Many authors leave dozens of in-jokes to be found by those who look. Lynch's simply seem more thickly applied, as by the Firesign Theatre. And the dwarf, or at least the actor who plays him, certainly does appear elsewhere in Lynch's work, most notably in (of course!) _Eraserhead_.
