Gee, i just rewatched the dream episode last night and the music in the dream sounded like a variation on the coffee shop music. Not backwards, that's for sure. Incidentally, I think the dwarf is Leland Palmer. Note how Leland is seen looking very demented and snapping his fingers before he puts on Pennsylvania 6-5000 and totally freaks out earlier in that show. Also, the dwarf's COUSIN looks exactly like Laura Palmer...? How about Leland's niece Madeleine, who looks exactly like Laura Palmer...? Also, the dwarf's dance is similar to the Leland "antler dance" that happens in a few weeks.
