Perhaps she had decided to change her life, and that was day
one of her "new", better life.  Actually this would explain a lot of
things.  She seemed like her old self right before she was killed, so
maybe Jacoby and James Hurley had succeeded, Laura tried to get out
of drug dealing, and that's why she was killed.  Kind of meshes nicely
with being Laura, "but sometimes my arms bend back", as in she can't
quite make it out of the mess she's in.
