Subject: Re: is Laura really dead? From: forestwatch@cdp.UUCP Date: 1990-09-06, 21:53 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks Madeline became a character on TP, because David Lynch became enamored (cinematically speaking) with Sheryl Lee--the Seatle actress he hired to play the dead Laura Palmer. He cast her as Madeline and the Good Witch in Wild at Heart. This doesn't refute the possibity that Madeline/Laura switch is the solution to the murder mystery, because the scripting of this show is obviously something akin to "Automatic Writing." In other words, the storyline, which is satirical, parodic, baroque, and twisted, is ultimately structureless and irrelevent. This is a signature of Post-modernist artistic expression.
