I haven't seen this mentioned before so...

I was in Crown Books (Westwood) the other day and saw a "Twin Peaks"
book next to the register.  It was Laura's diary.  I was wondering
if anyone has read this and if it sheds a little light on things, or if
its just background information.  The cover price of $8.95 for a 
fairly thin, softcover book seemed a  little steep.   I'm not even sure
who wrote it (ie: Lynch or some flunkie).   It did have some pages that
said "(Page Torn Out [as found])", but flipping through briefly I could
not find the phrase "Day 1".

On a side note: Did the fact that the twin-peaks representatives on the
Video Music Awards last night mentioned "The gum you like..." and then
laughed indicate anything to the TP experts out there?   It seemed like it
was some sort of inside joke to them.
