There was a ...ummmm... review by Deborah Hastings that appeared in the television section of my local paper (Seattle P.I.) this morning. I quote: "And while the TV series alluded to Laura's darker side, permeated by sex, violence and drugs, there is nothing equivocal in her diary: if it were made into a movie, "The Secret Life of Laura Palmer" would carry an X rating." I find this exploitation objectionable. What if I were to write "The Secret Diary of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark" in which I purport to explain exactly why I'm upset with my mother? The show should speak for itself. I don't think anyone should have to spend X dollars to explore extra-screen dimensions of the character's character -- this should be SHOWN, and it should be available to everyone who watches the show faithfully. The play's the thing! --Barbara -- Barbara HlavinPeople say that life is the thing, twain@blake.acs.washington.edubut I prefer reading. U. Washington AI-10/Seattle 98195 --Logan Pearsall Smith
