Here's what's on their sets. ------- PEGGY LIPTON plays Double R Diner owner Norma Jennings on ABC's "Twin Peaks." Once she was known as Julie Barnes on "The Mod Squad." Well, I wasn't watching TV for a long time. And then my kids (Rashida, 14, and Kidada, 16) started turning me on to it. Then I realized, I have to watch it, I'm in it. They watch television and they're very tuned into what's good and what's not, so they got me to watch it. But I still have a hard time actually sitting through a whole show. It's too fast and it's assaultive. But there are some things I watch. I would say there's nothing consistently I watch. I've watched "China Beach" and I like that. I like that pace. Really, if you think about it, there's so much space to think and to contemplate what you're watching. You don't get that regularly on TV. ------- SHERYL LEE is dead as Laura Palmer and alive as look-alike Madeleine Ferguson on ABC's "Twin Peaks." I usually don't watch television. It's funny -- because of the old shows, everybody has television jokes from years ago and I have no idea what they're talking about. I grew up (in Boulder, Colo.) playing outside until bedtime. Now, if I do watch television, I'll watch "thirtysomething," "China Beach," "The Wonder Years," "Doogie Howser," "The Simpsons." But that's if the television is on. If my roommates are watching it, that's what they're watching, and I end up sitting down and watching some of them. ------- KYLE MACLACHLAN is FBI Agent Dale Cooper on "Twin Peaks." I watch "Coach". I love Craig T. Nelson -- he's my hero. "Nightline," Ted Koppel I watch. Cable channels. I love the old National Geographic specials and the Jacques Cousteau specials, that kind of stuff. The stuff I grew up with. There's not a lot of time, and I use TV as a way to unwind as anything. I don't take "TV Guide" -- I just turn on whatever's on at the time and try to flip through and find something I like. If not, I'll go do something else. ------- SHERILYN FENN plays "Twin Peaks'" Audrey Horne on ABC and is probably the only character on TV who can put a cherry in her mouth and tie the stem into a knot. What do I watch on TV? I like "The Simpsons." I really don't watch a lot of TV. I watch cable to see what films are on Showtime or HBO. That's what I watch more than anything. ------- MATT GROENING is the creator of "The Simpsons" on Fox. I like "Twin Peaks." I saw the first two hours and the last episode. I don't know what the hell is going on on it. They were making it up as they went along. It's true. I talked to one of the people who worked on the show. I said, "So who killed Laura Palmer?" They said, "Oh, they changed their mind so many times on that." I went "Oh, man, that's not fair." Almost all of the rests of television is flashing like it's trying to say, "Don't forget that we're here. Hey, hey, hey. Look at this, look at this." "Twin Peaks" did exactly the opposite. It slowed it way, way down and tried to say, "C'mere." It tried to suck you in that way. And I just thought that was an interesting change of pace. When I heard about "Twin Peaks," I said it would never, ever work on (network) TV. -- ____ ____ ____ __o o__ Cliff Tuel || || || ||__ ||__ \( v )/ ctuel@polyslo.CalPoly.EDU [preferred] ||___ ||___ || || || /___\ d-tcs017@steer.CalState.EDU ^ ^
