Subject: Theories about Second Season Premiere preview From: boyajian@ruby.dec.com (Cisco's Buddy) Date: 1990-09-16, 22:25 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks,rec.arts.tv Well, as those of you who watched the First Season Finale again know, they gave us a tantalizing "coming attraction" for the Second Season Premiere. So, I thought I'd offer my thoughts about what it tells us. There's no real spoilers here unless you don't watch the coming attractions because you don't want to know *anything* about the next episode. I should also point out that I'm making the assumption that both the shots and the dialogue in this are contiguous, which is always a dangerous assumption to make. The preview starts out with a pan over the table covered with doughnuts, and then changes into a shot of a giant (it's not clear that he's a giant, but the camera angle used makes him look like one) talking, and then it changes to someone walking towards the camera, blurred so we can't see the figure clearly. The photography has a very dreamlike feel to it. During all this, the giant is talking to someone, saying: "Three have seen him, yes, but not his body. Only one is known to you." My theory is that this scene is from another dream that Cooper has -- or maybe from a post-shooting delirium. The giant (it seems fitting that if Cooper's first dream involved a dwarf, that his second would involve a giant; maybe this guy will be listed in the credits as "Another Man from Another Place :-)) is talking to Cooper. The "him" that he refers to is none other than Killer Bob. That explains why some have "seen him...but not his body" -- they've seen him in a dream or vision, not in real life. The blurred figure does look something like Bob. The question that remains is who are the three who've seen him? Cooper himself is one; Sarah Palmer is another (and presumably the one who "is known" to Cooper). Who's the third? One of the other cast of characters, and we simply don't know that he or she has had a dream/vision of Killer Bob, or someone who will have such in the Second Season Premiere prior to this dream of Cooper's? My other theory is that maybe the third is Margaret's log, and that Killer Bob was the mysterious "Third Man" the log spoke of. The log is "known" to Cooper, but it's not known to Cooper that the log saw Killer Bob. -- "There are more things in Heaven and Earth than are dreamt of in my laboratory." -- RETURN TO THE FORBIDDEN PLANET (Shakespeare's forgotten rock'n'roll masterpiece) --- jayembee (Jerry Boyajian, DEC, "The Mill", Maynard, MA) UUCP: ...!decwrl!ruby.enet.dec.com!boyajian ARPA: boyajian%ruby.DEC@DECWRL.DEC.COM
