No, he only started wearing it this season.  I first noticed it on the
10/20 episode.  Was that the episode where he called Dick a 'Robot'?
He may have had it then, as well.

Here's the strange part: a local tv station was interviewing various
TP stars as they entered the Emmy (phooey!  I spit on the Emmy's!)
ceremony, and Michael Horse was wearing that earring.  Maybe Lynch
saw Horse wearing it one day, and said "I like it.  Keep it on."  Who
knows?

Also, they interviewed Kyle MacLachlan, with the usual small talk, but
they totally ignored Lara Flynn Boyle, who was with MacLachlan (of
course).  Gee thanks.
