After the $700 check, I went back and watched the Squiggy scene
to check out a previous poster's comment that Bobby & Squiggy
are in cahoots.  The poster got the quote wrong, but "...after
we take _our_ cuts..." seems to be pretty obviously a reference 
to Bobby and Squiggy embezzling some of the "equipment" costs
that the insurance man references in the $5000->$700 explanation.
(Federal & state tax on insurance proceeds??).

Another point is that Bobby actively sends Shelley out of the
room before having the discussion with Squiggy.
