Subject: Miscellaneous stuff... From: jespah@milton.u.washington.edu (Kathleen Hunt) Date: 1990-11-08, 22:38 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks Re the events forty years ago: I'd love it if Lynch would film what happened then ...picture it, a house in the woods near a lake, a young Leland wandering over to a nearby white house, "Pennsylvania 6-5000" playing on someone's radio in the background, and suddenly little Leland hears a match strike (just like Wild at Heart!) and turns to see -- BOB. "Would you like to play with fire, little boy?" Re Leland-did-it: Many moons ago when I first heard the Leland-did-it theory, I thought it was impossible because Leland WAS SURPRISED when Harry told him his daughter was dead. But now, with the Leland-Possessed-By-BOB angle, that isn't such a problem any more. If LPBB did kill Laura, do you think maybe Leland doesn't remember, or thought it was just a dream? Imagine how horrible that would be, to dream that you killed your daughter, then wake up and think "It was only a dream!" only to find out later that day that your daughter is dead. rslugg@uncmed.med.unc.edu writes: *I anticipate Bob to flea to Leo, and for Coop's partner to show up in TP ^^^^ Appropriate move for a parasite, wouldn't you say? [I accidentally deleted the credit for the following post...sorry...] *I disagree. Mystery writers have been walking this line for years, and *many, many of them have been quite sucessful at it. I don't know about **you*, but when I get to the end of a Dorothy Sayers, P.D. James, or *Dame Agatha herself, I don't usually experience the let-down of an *impossible or grossly implausible ending. I agree about Sayers and James (Christie is more like popcorn -- I read it without noticing it). One reason I don't feel let down, though, is that Sayers and James are GOOD AUTHORS, that is to say, their books would still be worth reading even if there were no mysteries at all. I think Twin Peaks is much the same. WKLP is just part of an interesting and unusual story. Jespah
