Subject: What did Maddy smell?

 When Maddy came down the stairs, (sounding rather frightened, I might
add), she was asking "What's that smell? Is something burning?"
Could it be she smelt burnt engine oil, like Dr. Jacoby did in the
hospital when Leland came to kill Jacques? If so, does that mean it was
really BOB who was killing Jacques?
