It says that "Maybe Dad knows BOB..." not "BOB is a friend of my father's." It says "I'm going to have to tell the world about Benjamin," not "Ben Horne." (okay, that's a big nitpick, but what can I say. :>) Of course, the diary was really torn up (did Harold get really pissed off or what?), and the script might have been written off of an early draft by Jennifer Lynch.
