Because the proposal for rec.art.tv.twin-peaks contains a clause to
the effect that the newsgroup will self-destruct two months after
the show is cancelled.

I agree, but then it's not my proposal.  I suggest you take this up
with Will Bell (bell@cs.tamu.edu).  It was his idea to include the
self-destruct clause in order to satisfy critics who maintain that 
Twin Peaks is just a trendy show and that interest in it will evapo-
rate once the show goes off the air.
