Subject: 12-15 Episode From: mlee@cat25.cs.wisc.edu (Michael Lee) Date: 1990-12-15, 23:24 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks I like some of these new plots -- Andrew's revival was unexpected. I think TP's current problem is that as it becomes more diverse in plots and subplots, people realize that Twin Peaks is, and always has been, a Soap Opera. Yes, it's "shot with a film-maker's eye", and it has lots of unique imagery, but besides that? It's a soap. I don't think we can expect a "grand unification" of every subplot -- Cooper's troubles with Windom Earle have (and will have) nothing to do with the Packard subplot, and none of those will deal with Nadine or James either. I don't mind this much. It was interesting to see Hawk and Truman's reactions to Denise. I don't think cross-dressing is a usual thing in Twin Peaks. :) I wonder if we'll see more of Dougie's wife. She seemed interested in Cooper for some reason. Well, this will be the last episode I can really post about this year -- over all, it's been interesting seeing the discussion about the show. I don't know how I would view the show without the net pointing out what I missed, telling me about references to shows/movies I hadn't seen, and so on. I'm curious to know what happens next, both on and off screen for Twin Peaks, I hope ABC feels that the audience is desireable enough to survive the lower ratings. It could be a new shirt from the men's store, a cat nap in your office chair, or two cups of hot black coffee." - Agent Dale Cooper, TP
