Jack Nance has been in "Dune", "Blue Velvet", and "Wild at Heart". Oddly
enough, he played an evil sideman in all three pictures (for Baron
Harkonnen, Frank Booth [Dennis Hopper], and Bobby Peru [Willem Dafoe],
respectively).

Jack Nance also had a significant role in "Barfly". He played the detective.

"Eraserhead" aficionados may be interested to know that Charlotte Stewart, 
who plays Betty Briggs (Bobby's Mom) in TP, played Mary X, Henry's 
[Jack Nance's] wife in "Eraserhead". That movie is permanently etched in
my mind since I once had a college roommate with the same haircut Henry
had.

One subtlety that I found funny (and everybody I know seemed to miss) was
Betty Briggs' appearance in the Funeral Episode in the first season. She
comes into the room to tell Bobby and Major Briggs it's time to leave
for the funeral. There's a little yellow smiley-face button on her lapel.
Ironic, huh?
