There was no endorsement. It was a cashier's check. The buyer of that
check gave $5M to the bank, and the bank cut a check for the amount,
payable to Ben Horne.

Josie wasn't beaten. She specifically said to Harry that she escaped
from Jonathan at the airport in Seattle. There was no time for anyone
to discover that the check was no good.

If Josie had been beaten because of the check, you can be sure that if
she managed to live through it, she'd've been so bruised that she'd look
like a giant blueberry.
