Subject: Industrial Symphony No. 1 From: bwdavies@rodan.acs.syr.edu Date: 1990-12-22, 18:02 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks -------- So. I've seen lots of postings referring to the mysterious "Industrial Symphony No. 1". I even sent e-mail to someone to try and get more info, and had started to look into getting a copy. Friday night's trip to our local video emporium, however, brought a surprise: It's on video, and for rent! Here's the information off the videotape itself: David Lynch / Angelo Badalamenti I N D U S T R I A L S Y M P H O N Y N O . 1 the dream of the broken hearted (italics) Featuring Julee Cruise Directed by David Lynch Produced by David Lynch and Angelo Badalamenti Executive Producers: Steve Golin, Monty Montgomery and Sigurjon Sighvatsson Performance filmed at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Opera House, November 10, 1989 Approximate running time: 50 minutes Up in Flames, I Float Alone, The Black Sea, Into the Night, I'm Hurt Bad, Pinky's Bubble Egg (The Twins Spoke), The Dream Conversation, Rockin' Back Inside My Heart, The Final Battle, The World Spins On Warner Reprise Video, a Division of Warner Bros. Records. (C) 1990, Elbow Music. VHS-HiFi (Dolby Stereo) It starts with a brief scene of a telephone conversation between Laura Dern and Nicholas Cage (which is later repeated by the MFAP!), then moves into the performance itself, which is filled with industrial-appearing scaffolding and pipework, with spotlight and searchlight beams sweeping across it. If anyone caught the VH-1 program featuring Julee Cruise, some of the video footage they used came from this work. A note on Bobby's/James' music: It _is_ there, but in a much briefer and confused version (other sounds). I was somewhat disappointed that the music Audrey danced to in the double-R wasn't present. Worth checking out. I'm hoping for a price around $20 (like _Home of the Brave_, also on Warner Reprise), but not counting on it. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sam Hill Cabal "If there's anything insidious going bwdavies@sunrise.bitneton in the world, the media is behind bwdavies@rodan.acs.syr.eduit!" -T.J.
