Subject: Making Life More Surreal.... From: scott@apple.com (scott douglass) Date: 1991-01-24, 14:57 Newsgroups: misc.kids,alt.tv.twin-peaks Sitting in the local Arby's with his baby brother and me, my three-year-old Alan looked up fron his Adventure Meal and said, "These grapes are right on the edge." This was a bit unusual, but not too. But all day long, he kept shouting, "Road trip! Road trip!" Finally, when our housemate came home, Alan told him, "Every day, once a day, give yourself a present." Evidently in exploring our Macintosh Alan had come across a Twin Peaks stack which we had downloaded consisting of various quotes from the show. You just click on the words, and the Mac plays the quote. Of course, being a three-year-old, Alan sits there and plays them over and over and over, and his little brain records each one. There must be some way to put this to good use. The only thing I can think of is that he's going to teach himself to read, only instead of "See Spot run." it's going to be "Damn good coffee! And hot!" or "Fire, walk with me." But couldn't we teach him the periodic table or something? Tables of integrals? If he can say, "Come on then! My log does not judge!" he should be able to remember "integral sinh x = cosh x." But for now I'll have to live with a little sqeaky voice running around saying things like, "Next stop: Rocket science!" and "We're going to give Little Elvis a bath." Sheesh! -- maggie
