In a lot of movies, starting with Blade Runner and continuing through
Angel Heart and others, I've notived a fan motif. I'd like to hear
suggesting as to the mood fans create and the meaning they may have.

In Angel Heart I thought that it referred back to an old belief
about left and right turning circles: 
circles turning clockwise
are positive and counter clockwise are evil or negative (although
pre-Christian pagans saw it the other way around. In the middle ages 
pagan counter-clockwise dances were forbidden by the church). 

Another example is the swastika, a spinning circle motif. Occultists say
that originally the swastika was turned in a positive direction but
the Nazi's turned it around and (inadvertently or deliberately) made it
a symbol of evil energy.

Twice now I've heard suggestings that the waterfall is the gateway to
another world.  If that is so, we may be seeing Laura
(thrown into the water by Leland) again.
