Subject: 2/16 Synopsis From: nolty@kastor.caltech.edu (Bob Nolty) Date: 1991-02-18, 11:56 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks (morning) 1. Camera roams around owl knick-knacks, chess board, mask, HST and AC as they listen to Windom Earl tape. COOPER: "If Wyndom wanted to kill me I'd be dead." WE insists on Cooper's next move. Harry asks Lucy to call paper (to place personal ad) and Pete. LUCY: "Paper and Pete. Right, I'll do it in alphabetical order." 2. Pete cooks breakfast for Catherine and Andrew. Josie walks in, sees Andrew and faints. 3. Hank (on crutches) and Hawk in Harry's office. HST accuses Hank of shooting Leo. Hank says he was home with Norma then, and offers to deal info on Packard's death for freedom. No deal. Hawk kicks Hank's crutch causing Hank to fall on his broken leg. TP -- home of civil liberties. 4. Albert says same gun shot Agent Cooper and Asian Man. 5. Audrey working as concierge at GN. Some hunk walks in; he claims to have seen Audrey years ago playing Heidi. Audrey has mail -- a note containing a torn piece of paper with writing, and a note inviting her to "save the one you love" by attending "a gathering of angels" at the road house that night. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6. Nadine confesses to Ed her love for Mike. NADINE: "It's time to call a spade a spade, Eddie: we're breaking up." 7. Cooper interviews Josie at the Packard/Martell house. Catherine listens in. COOPER: "I don't know what place Harry occupies in your heart, but I do know that you own his." Josie is unresponsive. After AC leaves, Catherine badgers Josie while oozing slime. Catherine says Josie will have to see Eckhardt alone that night. JOSIE: "He'll kill me." Cathering casually exposes a gun in the book case which Josie grabs and fondles. 8. Bobby, Ben, Jerry, Audrey and the hunk (old friend of Ben's, John Justice Wheeler aka Jack) plot business. Ben reveals there is an endangered species on the mill/Ghostwood property: the pine weasel. JERRY: "They're incredible roasted." Ben will use this fact to stop development until he is in the driver's seat. BEN: "And then, I'm considering a run for the Senate." 9. WE exits diner, leaving a note for Shelly. Norma is on phone with her sister (Andie), a nun who is coming to visit. Shelly reads note, identical to Audrey's. Ed comes in and proposes to Norma. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ 10. Leo and Windom. I missed the point. Leo whittles. 11. Norma visits Hank in jail, asks for divorce. Hank promises to reform and asks for Leo alibi. Norma refuses, although Hank swears he'll die if he goes back to prison. HANK: "You're his whore." NORMA: "I'd rather be his whore than your wife." 12. Sheriff's office -- Pete selects a move that will give WE "sleepless nights" and not allow WE to capture any pieces for 4-5 moves. 13. Albert says powder on Josie's glove proves she shot Cooper. ALBERT: "Bust this bitch." Cooper gives Truman time. 14. Andrew visits Josie in her room. Says he loved her though she didn't love him. Says she should go to Eckhardt who can get her out of the country. 15. James and Donna meet for a picnic in the mountains. James is going to continue traveling around. Donna will return to TP. They will continue to love each other and meet again some day. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ (early evening) 16. HST appears at Packard/Martell place looking for Josie. Catherine says she is with Eckhardt at GN. Harry rushes out. 17. Eckhardt in elevator at GN; Packard is there. AP stops elevator and talks to TE (who is surprised to see him.) AP says he is alive because Josie betrayed TE. Something about Josie in love with HST. ECKHARDT: "I've already taken care of him." 18. Ben, Audrey and Jack at supper. Jack is in business of saving troubled businesses with environmental problems (I didn't quite catch it). Ben is called away; attraction/repulsion/defensiveness between Audrey and Jack ensues. 19. Shelly, Audrey and Donna meet at the road house. They put three pieces of paper together to get a poem that didn't mean much to me. WE watches from the bar. 20. Cooper practices fly fishing in his room. I forget what happened -- he hears something? Grabs his gun and goes to investigate. Hears a shot and opens Eckhardt's room. Eckhardt stands up and dies. Josie and Cooper point guns at each other. Josie confesses to shooting Cooper before. Harry enters, points gun at Josie and yells at her. She points gun at self, then faints. Harry holds her and declares she is dead. WHITE LIGHT WHITE LIGHT WHITE LIGHT we are in the Cooper zone. He looks at bed, where Harry and Josie were, it's now empty. Then a hand comes from behind the bed, then another, then BOB pokes up his ugly head and laughs. BOB: "What happened to Josie?" Cooper looks again, BOB is gone but the dwarf is dancing on the bed. Cooper looks again and it is Harry and Josie. Then the camera moves to a bedstand, and zooms in on a 1-inch wide drawer knob until it almost fills the screen. Josie's face appears on the knob, sad. Then weird face-trying-to-escape-from- latex shots. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ MHO: If there had to be a last episode, this was a pretty good one. It resolved more problems than it created, although we certainly wouldn't _ever_ want everything resolved. Favorite shots: (1) Albert and Cooper in foreground in hallway at sheriff's office as Albert says "Bust this bitch", then a shift focus as Harry walks out of conference room into the picture in the background, Harry looking at them and looking pitiful. (2) Packard and Eckhardt, in the side-by-side facing-front elevator arrangement, carrying on conversation. (3) At the road house, a shot down the bar with the angels in focus in the foreground, and the unmistakeable roundness of WE's face out of focus in the background. Poor Josie: She is emotionally abused by Cooper, Catherine and Andrew, no doubt mauled by Eckhardt, gun-threatened and yelled at by Cooper and Harry, dies, laughed at by BOB, danced on by LMFAP, and then imprisoned in wood/latex. Must have been a Monday.
