Subject: Hmmm... From: halcyon!hikaru@sumax.seattleu.edu (Demosthenes) Date: 1991-02-19, 22:44 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks To tell the truth, while I found the James/Evelyn/Malcolm storyline to be just slightly less silly than using a nuclear bomb to clear out a bookstore, I found James to be an interesting character. James Marshall's lack of acting ability is exceeded only by his lack of looks, but James Hurley himself is an interesting character. Maybe I only think that because I'm a Desert Rose Band fan - they have a song entitled "Running" which I think relates a lot to James: "My hometown is filled with broken dreams Folks back there are runnin' from life, it seems I left as a young man running from a memory And I'm still runnin' - I'll always be running." James is trying to escape from Twin Peaks, which has been the embodiment of frustration ever since he can remember. His mother and father are never around, he is taken care of by his (dare I say it?) hick uncle and crazy aunt, his girlfriend and her cousin are both murdered by an evil demon, and he just cannot handle it any more. So he leaves. Of course, this is just my interpretation. :> You know, it just occured to me. Will the broadcast hiatus have any effect on the licensees of Twin Peaks? For instance, the three books that were on the way, the TP line of cherry pie, coffee, etc. ************************************************************************** "Mr. BOB, you've killed Theresa Banks, * Richard Barrett Laura Palmer, Jacques Renault, and * 18004 146th Ave NE Maddy Ferguson.
