Perhaps now he is able to influence the material world without using a host. Perhaps in some way Josie had made herself vulnerable by her wicked life or perhaps all souls are vulnerable to Bob at the moment of death. Bob killed Leland by inflicting blows to his head but perhaps Bob has other skills. He said that he was going to "pull the ripcord" on Leland. Ripcord reminds me of the silver cord that occultists say ties a wondering soul to the body or to the spirit world. Perhaps Bob has the power to pull that cord on certain people. a.h.
