My two cents on the Truman/BOB thing...

While I'm not sure I agree with the idea, I realized something last night which
you might want to chew on:

Note that BOB asked, "Coop? What...".  Not "Cooper", not "Dale", not anything
else--"Coop".  Now, I can only think of three people on TP who call Cooper 
"Coop":  Gordon, Albert (on occasion), and Truman.

Just a thought.
