Subject: ATTN ALL PEAKS FANS: COOP NEEDS YOU FRIDAY! From: czahrt@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu (Robert D. Cappel...you can call me The Bob) Date: 1991-03-05, 13:34 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks ATTN ALL PEAKS FANS: COOP NEEDS YOU FRIDAY! Before I begin the purpose of this memo, anyone who takes part in this MUST do two things: 1) Try their best to NOT let ABC in on the following plan. It could collapse as a result. 2) You MUST respond to me, Bob Cappel, at one of the following email addresses and tell me that you did this. czahrt@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu cappel@umaxc.weeg.uiowa.edu Finally, the purpose of this memo. We need your help this Friday, March 8th. Friday will be the first organized and synchronized COOP attempt at activism in support of Twin Peaks. We need your help and it will only take a moment of your time. On Thursday, March 7, prepare yet another letter of protest fo FAX to BOB Iger, ABC Entertainment President. Make it polite, to the point, and identify yourself as an active member of COOP. Once drafted, save it till Friday. On Friday, at 12:30 EST (11:30 CST, 10:30 MST, 9:30 PST) we begin. At that moment and not a moment sooner please call one of the numbers below to protest the cancellation of Peaks. Ask for BOB Iger. You won't get through to him, but convey your message of protest to the receptionist. Be polite, brief, identify yourself as a member of COOP, identify your city and state, and get off the telephone. Call only once. Following your call, FAX your letter to one of the FAX numbers below. Fo those who cannot get through in LA, call the Audience Relations/NYC number listed below. If at all possible, get through to LA, but don't give up simply because you could not get through. At 2:00 pm EST (1:00 CST, 12:00 MST, 11:00 PST) we end. At that moment, and not a moment later, please stop calling ABC. Our object is to politely tie up the ABC Entertainment Division with our concerns. The more precision we apply to our actions, the more daunting they become. Friday's action is an excercise, a drill. We want to see just what computer wise Twin Peaks fans can do. All of us in COOP believe that the INTERNET will play a key role in our campaign, if not lead it. As our vanguard, we trust you will participate on Friday. Once again, please write me, or respond to this note after you have made your call and sent your FAX. The reason for this is so we may send an accurate accounting of how many took place to the press.
