I can't remember the name (etc.) Actually that is not right-the Pogues's song is actually "And the Band Played Waltzing Mathilda" which is not anything like the real Waltzing Mathilda. The real Waltzing Mathilda is the unofficial Australian anthem-equivalent to, say, "My Country 'Tis of Thee". It's a fairly old song, all about a rover who steals a sheep and gets caught (there's a bit more than that of course). The Pogues song is an anti-war song. The title comes from the playing of Waltzing Mathilda as the ship of troops heads for Gallipoli.
