I think ABC wanted to kill off Twin Peaks ever since
the "Who killed Laura Palmer" mystery was solved--
why else would they put it opposite Cheers?  But
this is all IMHO.  Anyway, the ratings follow:

2.  Cheers                               NBC    26.4
77. Twin Peaks                           ABC     6.2

BTW, Twin Peaks was the lowest rated ABC show.  Life
Goes On (71), Equal Justice and Young Riders (65),
and PrimeTime Live (61) were the next highest ABC
shows.
