Subject: The 4/4 Episode - SPOILERS From: UN040377@WVNVAXA.WVNET.EDU Date: 1991-04-06, 03:10 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks I thought this episode was pretty bad, possibly the worst yet. Mo, second worst - 2004 was worse. What I noticed most was the complete lack of subtlety in this episode. Still, there were some decent parts. Thoughts: * About the geometric design on the napkin & in the cave. Coop said it consisted of the Major's and LL's tattoos. IT DID NOT! The Log Lady's was in it, but instead of the Major's tattoo it had 3 diamonds connected end to end. I can't believe they let a huge continuity error like this slip by. This was important, and they screwed it up. I am annoyed. It's not like it would have been hard to fix that or anything. * It was good to see Gordon Cole again, but that whole scene in the diner soon became tedious and dragged on too long. I got the impression that David Lynch got a little too self-indulgent in that scene. His first appearance on the show was much more entertaining. I did like his line "THE WORD LINKAGE REMINDS ME OF SAUSAGE!" though. * The cave stuff REALLY had no subtlety at all. Reminded me of a "Dark Shadows" style. * I can't believe that Cooper & Co. just left the cave after discovering that stone handle. Surely they would have been a LITTLE curious after all that had just happened! And Cooper did say "Who knows where this will lead us?" implying that he wanted to investigate. Maybe they did, and we just didn't get to see it. But I doubt it, since when WE got there everything was still normal. I thought the closing scene (with pieces of rock falling all around) looked kind of like a stone version of the waterfall. * So now we have 4 possibilities for the chess queen: Donna, Audrey, Shelley, and whoever wins Miss Twin Peaks. I wonder why Earle needs 4 to choose from, instead of just picking 1 from the start? Also, is he choosing HIS queen or Cooper's queen? Or maybe, Miss Twin Peaks will be WE's queen while Cooper's will either be Donna, Audrey, or Shelley. * Ben Horne said to Audrey, "When I think about Laura... about the mistakes I've made..." Hmmm.... * What are some implications of the fact that WE was using the same drug that the one-armed man was taking? Also, if WE was taking the drug to fake a mental illness AFTER he was already in the looney-bin, why was he sent to a mental institution in the first place? * A prediction based on the scenes from next week: Windom will go ahead and capture Cooper's pawn, even though he would have to give up his bishop (with the mood he's in now, I don't think he really cares.) I think he'll have Leo to do the killing for him. Leo's probably his bishop. He will have Leo write Cooper a note about the chess game. Cooper will somehow suspect that it is Leo's writing, and will subsequently realize that Leo is with WE. Cooper might even decide NOT to take WE's bishop after the above move, because he doesn't want anyone (even Leo) to die. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Kenneth Bays | "Everyone looks naked when you know the un040377@wvnvms.wvnet.edu | world's address." - They Might Be Giants - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
