Subject: Wheeler/Heisenburg -- coincidence? From: jms@vanth.UUCP (Jim Shaffer) Date: 1991-04-21, 19:15 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks I don't know if we're meant to make anything of it, but I noticed that we had a John Wheeler on the show, and another John Wheeler was a physicist who temporarily championed the idea that when a quantum-level event takes place, *all* of the possible outcomes happen in different universes rather than one being "selected" at random. (He later rejected the theory as "carrying too great a load of metaphysical baggage.") Then on the 4/18 episode, we have a quote from Heisenburg to the effect that what we see isn't the universe, but the universe according to the way we look at it.Very interesting... -- * From the disk of: | jms@vanth.uucp | "You know I never knew Jim Shaffer, Jr. | amix.commodore.com!vanth!jms | that it could be so 37 Brook Street | uunet!cbmvax!amix!vanth!jms | strange..."
