One of the best things about TP is that it doesn't feel the need the explain absolutely everything to the audience. I think this may be why TP came to be considered an intellectual show -- the audience was invited to think out the connections for themselves, to take part in solving the crime. An example of this is the question: "Who attacked Jacoby at the gazebo?" It was never explained in the show (although it is in the TP book) but I think most people were able to guess that it was Leland after he was exposed and the link to burning was discovered, also by the viewer only. This may lead to disagreement, but it also leads to discussion. How many people stand around the water cooler arguing over what last nights episode of "Cheers" means? Some people claim that other loose ends include the bouncing balls, Hank's domino, and even the breakdancing kid in the pilot. To me, these are interesting extras that need no explanation, or rather I leave it to each person to find their own. They play no part in the plot at hand. Treat them as you would the color of Cooper's tie. Perhaps there is a symbol there, or perhaps he just likes that color. > > a.h. -- Peter. wilson@iowasp.physics.uiowa.edu ********************************************************************* * "A person is a person | "The life I lead would even * * no matter how small." | make a dead man yawn" * * - Horton | - Klaatu * *********************************************************************
