Add to that the fact that his hand started shaking when the girl was
murdered and the murderer was near.  The ring is significant because
the giant takes it away (in the series) and returns it after he
encounters the clues.  There were also more references to good vs evil,
black vs white (nurses in white uniforms, snowflakes, woman dressed
all in black, etc).  Some pretty good clues regarding Windom Earle, too.
