Subject: Doin' the Hand Jive on TV From: ii7gjg0b@serss0.fiu.edu (Jim Stafford) Date: 1991-04-29, 13:11 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks I read an article in one of those medical advice columns which may have some bearing on all those shaking hands. Seems there is a fairly common neurological syndrome in which one of the hands takes on a "will of its own". The severity can vary from mild tremors, to the hand mirroring the activities of the good hand, or in the worst case, the affected hand actually attacking its owner! (I swear, I am not making this up.) The owner (presumably the one it's connected to) has absolutely no control over the hand, and feels as if it belongs to someone else. It often occurs following an accident or illness which results in minor brain damage, or after brain surgery (especially following the operation in which the two halves of the brain are disconnected as a treatment for severe epilepsy). The article said it usually goes away after a while (not sure if they meant the hand or the affliction.) So what does This All Mean? Probably not a damn thing. Coop and Pete should just switch to Deep Black Decaf for a while. jimbo
