   That's because the Morse code is being played backwards.  Well, more 
   precisely, Major Briggs is tapping out the code in reverse, a word
   at a time.  I think it says something about "GUM".

No, no, no.  That's ``gub'', as in ``I have a gub''---yet another
movie reference.
