Subject: Re: Use of the supernatural in TP [au SPOILERS] From: dawson@Atex.Kodak.COM (Keith Dawson) Date: 1991-05-21, 12:57 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks Reply-to: dawson@Atex.Kodak.COM Without ruining completely the remainder of the series for those who have only just learned WKLP, I'll simply say whether or not we have learned the answers to your questions so far through episode #2020. If you really want the detailed spoilers, send me mail. * SPOILERS AHEAD * > 1) Why does the killer put letters under the fingernails??? Sureley > they would have explored that concept more than they did... > How/why did the killer put them under the fingernails of the > victim(s) that brought Cooper to Twin Peaks? The answer to this is revealed. > 2) What is the chess game about? The meaning is revealed; I don't think you're going to like the way this extended metaphor is handled however... > 3) What is on the tape in Leo's boot? Revealed. > 4) What is the signifigance of the horse that Laura's mother saw? Not revealed so far. This forum has entertained lots of speculation on this one; I think we have a concensus. > 5) Why doesn't Cooper feel guilty about the man killed during his > (illegal) raid on One-Eyed-Jack's? Now that's a good question. It doesn't come up. You will be hearing more about the illegality of the raid though... > 6) Why aren't the press swamping the town which is the latest site > of a serial killer's work? Good question. It's part of a larger question that has been debated at length here, viz: where's the outrage, the horror, the concerted law- enforcement counterattack against the forces of evil that progressively engulf this cozy town? Why haven't they called out the Army? (Oddly enoough, there is material yet to come that bears on this question...) > 7) Who shot Cooper? I expected this to be solved before the killer's > identity was revealed. Revealed. The "why" of it remains murky however. > 8) Who shot the bird??? Why?? Revealed. In fact, it was pretty clear from that episode. Got a VCR? > 9) What was in Laura's secret diary? This is not revealed in full in the remaining episodes -- though some more facts come out -- but a book has been published called, of all things, "The Secret Diary of Laura Palmer." Author is Jennifer Lynch, daughter of David. Concensus in this group is that this book can be taken all in all as an "official" background document -- that is, it's part and parcel of the same creative mythos. > 10) WHY DID LEYLAND KILL LAURA?????? We have only speculation. > 11) Why is Audrey Horne so disgusted with her father sleeping > with LP, when she lept into Cooper's bed at the first opportunity? Doesn't really come up. My speculation: So maybe she's not all that mature yet. She can't distance herself from her father enough to view him as an independent adult. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Keith Dawson voice=508-670-4025 fax=508-670-4033 Atex Advanced Publishing Sys., 165 Lexington Rd.
