This kind of thinking makes a lot of sense out of the Giant's messages about, "...the question is, where have you gone?" suggesting that the Giant's appearances are merely due to Cooper tuning in to some plane that the Giant can exist on-- perhaps the Giant knows what Cooper can most likely tune into and positions himself appropriately. It also fits in with Donna and James talking about being able to feel Laura's spirit -- as if they're able to barely "tune in" to Laura's presence because of their closeness to her in our world.
