The doppleganger of myth and legend was a double of an individual.  Each one
of us has a doppleganger, and were we to meet our doppleganger, we would be
annihilated.  Matter and antimatter.  A doppleganger is our "evil twin" (where
is David Cronenburg when you need him?).

The big thick dictionary on my wife's desk says
Doppleganger: n. A ghostly double of a living person, especially one that haunts
its own fleshly counterpart.

Does this mean that the existence of your doppleganger implies that you are not
yet dead?
