Leaving him as a vegetable would probably have been more interesting... but let's face it. They HAD to bring him back from the brain-dead somehow. As for Shelly and Gordon -- I happened to like it, because it was so off-the-wall. Gordon/Shelly and Coop/Annie (at least at first) were much more "Peakish" romances than Donna/James by that point. At least they were unusual...
