ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!  I had a feeling the kid would turn up in the finale
(which, after all, his dad directed), but they've left him hanging.  I have
a feeling the producers decided to forget as much of the unexplained threads
surrounding Laura Palmer as they could, and hope the viewers could do the
same...  :)
