If you haven't seen the movie _Angel Heart_, and are planning on renting it, hit "n" now. (The following is all my own interpretations) In _Angel Heart_, a spinning fan symbolized death. That is, every time a fan was seen, someone was being killed or had died earlier. I mean EVERY time. Perhaps this is similar to the fan in the Palmer house.
