Subject: TP on videotape and laserdisc From: nmehta@sal-sun85.usc.edu (Niraj Mehta) Date: 1991-09-04, 09:46 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks I just caught up on most of the news on TP for the summer and was surprised to see no mention of the TP video collection being put out on the Sep. 11. I heard a number of different things, including a boxed set of the first season excluding the pilot episode, for about $80. I also know from Billboard that that particular company ( I forgot the name) has got the rights to the rest of the episodes also, and might soon release them. There also was something about an alternative ending, perhaps the european version, being released the same day. There was a screener tape available for video insiders, that said TP, on the cover but when you took the tape out, it said on the label: "So you think you really know who killed Laura Palmer? Think again!" It also unfortunately went on to say that it was too good to give away on a preview cassette. The tape turned out to be blank!!! I was pissed but I did get this much info out of it! That tape was a "screener" tape for people who run and/or own videostores, such as one of my relatives. I can't be sure of what they meant by an alternative solution to the murder, but I would guess that it probably is the european version. I also heard that they are starting a major media campaign for the release of these tapes, with TP mugs, T-shirts, etc. The tapes are also available separately for $20 each! The laserdisc is being put out by Lynch himself, for $34.95 and will be out with Wild at Heart in the middle of September. So, fellow Peakies, it's time to march on down to the videostore and demand TP! If anyone gets more info, please post and e-mail! Thanks...
