Troy was a pony given to Laura Palmer for her birthday by Ben Horne. She loved the pony but eventually set it loose when she decided she was a truly terrible person. I think the pony was eventually found dead or injured and had to be destroyed. Laura believed Troy was a present from Leland when she first got him but later discovered he came from Ben. Troy seems to be some kind of symbol of her transition from cute little girl with the traditional pony and sweet life to the very different character who was revealed after her death. Troys death in a way symbolises the death of the purer aspect of laura's personality. Its all in the secret diary. Sorry about the philosophising. Margaret, Dublin, Ireland.
