An evil WE > >which is an opposite of WE is strange. Hawk's statement could be a red herring. You can in fact see WE's face in that scene-- although I'm not sure that this means BOB was Laura at that time. The last scene where we saw different faces flash over someone was with Leland/BOB. This suggests that WE was "disguised" as Laura in that scene and not BOB. Second, Hawk did not say that one meets an "evil self" in the Black Lodge, he said "shadow self." So, if you have a problem with WE meeting someone/thing in the Black Lodge, you could assume that his "other self" is not the same kind of being as Cooper's "other self." Also, Hawk didn't say that one would be trapped in the Lodge if they can "face it," he said that if you "confront the Black Lodge with imperfect courage, it will utterly annhilate your soul." I assume that we saw WE's soul "utterly annhilated" or at least "taken" by BOB, but Coop actually did show some courage in his willingness to give his soul for his love. Here's a transcript of Hawk's discussion on the Lodges: ------ Cooper: Have either of you fellows heard of a place called the White Lodge? Hawk: Where'd you hear of it? C: Well, it was the last thing Major Briggs said to me before he disappeared. H: Cooper, you may be fearless in this world but there are other worlds. C: Tell me more. H: My people believe that the White Lodge is a place where the spirits that rule man and nature here reside. Truman: Local legend, goes way back. H: There is also a legend of a place called the Black Lodge, the shadow self of the White Lodge. Legend says that every spirit must pass through there on the way to perfection. There you will meet your own shadow self. My people call it the dweller on the threshold. C:Dweller on the threshold. H:But it is said if you confront the Black Lodge with imperfect courage, it will utterly annihilate your soul. ------ Rocky Giovinazzo.
