Subject: REPOST: The Australian Ending From: DPMT@UQEVE.CC.UQ.OZ.AU ("Matthew S Trevor ", No relation to Harry S Truman) Date: 1991-09-11, 08:28 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks Well, that's the end of the Australian run of Twin Peaks. Last night's episode had to have been one of the most intense of the series (yes, IMHO). A malevolent Coop: up until now those too words would have been considered mutually exclusive. But Coop standing in the bathroom saying "How's Annie?" and giggling is a scene I shall not soon forget... Now it's question time, questions which were no doubt done to death after the series ended in America, but as I was avoiding this news group at the time (I didn't want any surprises ruined) I've missed all the answers to questions pertaining to the last several episodes. 1 One of the puzzle boxes that Kathryn, Andrew and Pete were trying to open had a circle on one face composed of phases of the moon. Andrew would say a date ("Josie's birthday","Eckhart's Birthday"...) and then press _3_ of the moon symbols. Yet if the symbols represented dates, wouldn't he have only pressed one for each date? 2 When Bobby was at the Miss Twin Peaks contest, he saw Margaret at the bar, then turned around to see "Margaret" standing behind him. The initial illusion was that Margaret had moved between two locations in an impossible amount of time, yet the truth was revealed when the second Margaret turned out to be Earle. However, Margaret obviously did move quickly, for when Bobby turned around to face the bar again, the sleazy choreographer was still standing by Margaret's stool, waving his hands in empty air with a stunned expression on his face... 3 I understand that one of the underlying factors of the story is "duality". However, I had assumed the the Giant and the old man who worked at the Great Northern were the same, or connected in some way. Yet while Coop was in the Lodge, the Giant sits down next to the Little Man and says "One and the same". Is he refering to the dwarf, or to the old man (who was also in the same scene)? And if the Giant has been helping Coop, giving the appearance of good, just why is he in the Black Lodge? 4 Coop meets Laura in the Black Lodge, and one of the things she says is "I'll see you again in 25 years". Was this refering to the first dream that Coop had involving LP (he was an old man in the dream) or a bit of atmospherics/foreshadowing on the part of Lynch? 5 Does anyone know what the song was that Coop heard when he first entered the Lodge? I understand that some of these questions haven't been answered by the show, but wild stabs in the dark will do fine. So thats it? Half a year spent religiously following this program (no, it's far more than a program) and now Coop is stuck in the Black Lodge for good, and we'll never know the answers to our questions? Sigh. I can understand the outrage on alt.tv.twin-peaks now... --------------------------+ Matthew Trevor (Morpheus) | Uni of Queensland. | DPMT@uqeve.cc.uq.oz.au | --------------------------+----------------------------------------------------- "We waste no part of the animal" - Koko --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
