Well, it could also have been because of his previous stab wound, from Pittsburgh. Note that he starts to bleed when he enters the room where he sees Caroline lying on the floor. In fact, he sees himself and Caroline lying on the floor, much as they must have been when Earle killed Caroline and stabbed Cooper. It also does prefigure (and, possibly, follow, in the XXX Lodge backwards way) Earle's ``stabbing'' of Cooper. -30- Bob
