Well, there's no guarantee that they are dead, but given what happened at the bank, I think it's justifiable to assume that they are dead in the absence of evidence otherwise. Which doesn't mean that they *are* dead. Just that what evidence we have suggests it. As for Eckhardt, well, Jones *did* mention to Catherine that she was getting ready to bring Eckhardt's body back home. Since his collapse was witnessed by Cooper (and Harry as well, but given what happened to Josie immediately after, Harry's mind probably wasn't functioning properly for a while), it's completely reasonable to assume that Eckhardt's body was examined on the spot and determined to be dead, and that an autopsy was performed (as is SOP when a crime is involved). For Jones' remark about Eckhardt's "body" to be a lie, it would mean that Doc and Coop would have to be co-conspirators in that lie. *Not* a reasonable assumption. Of the four, Eckhardt would be the one that we can believe is not only really dead, but most sincerely dead. -- "Take that surface-man Autry to the Lightning Room!" --- jayembee (Jerry Boyajian, DEC, "The Mill", Maynard, MA) boyajian%ruby.DEC@DECWRL.DEC.COM or ...!decwrl!ruby.enet.dec.com!boyajian
