Subject: TP in Japan

Just a quick tidbit... some friends are visiting from Japan, who had never
before heard of TP.  I showed them the premiere, and they promptly went out
and bought the videotape to sit, watch, and record the entire 32 hours,
editing out the commercials and everything.  They altered their travel plans,
and are visiting Snolqualmie/ North Bend starting tomorrow, just before they
return to Japan.  Yesterday we went around looking for Julee Cruise and TP
Soundtrack CD's, Secret Diaries, and so on.  I think it helped that I had the
TP Euro-movie laserdisc from Japan, with Japanese subtitles, for them to get
started into it, but after that, they gleaned what they could from the English
version (their command of English is limited).  What fun.

Yesterday, they also informed me that, having mentioned TP on their calls
back to their home country, they have now learned that TP is showing in some
form on TV in Japan.  And it is the most recorded television show in Japan in
the history of TV and VCR's.  Their friends at home are all very excited
about their imminent return with the entire series on tape!
