Subject: Re: Movie Filming (Harry Dean Stanton) From: clindh@abalon.se (Christer Lindh) Date: 1991-09-20, 17:40 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks In an article margaret@igor.tamri.com (Margaret Kritzer) writes: > > What is "A Cowboy and a Frenchman" ?? Never heard of this... > > A short movie David made for the french magazine "Le Figaro" 10(0)th year celebration or something. It's about Slim (Harry Dean Stanton), a nearly deaf ranch-owner and his two hands Dusty ("Miller" in RepoMan) and Pete ("Pete" in TP). They spot a strange man approaching the farm and capture him. He's Pierre, a fullblown french man, beret on head, snails in pocket, wine and baquettes in suitcase. It takes a while for them to figure this out, he speaks only french. ("He might be some kind of goldang alien spy!") They understand who he is when they find some french fries in his suitcase ("Get the ketchup!). Slim shoots a crow and a snake. An indian, Broken Feather appears ("Hawk" in TP), he's been tracking the frenchman for 10 days ("He kept tossing out snails. Scared me!") Pierre talks in french about Manhattan, Indians, Hoboken and a small car with a zebra on it. In the evening they have a party with some 'dream scenes' with dancing girls (I think "Josie", "Audrey" and "Donna" are in there), horses and a country&western singer. The frenchman raises a model of the Statue Of Liberty and everyong cheers "Viva La France". Two girls wants to go to bed with Pierre ("Voule'z vous coucher avec moi..") Slim sings a country song and makes out. In the morning they sit out on the farm, Pierre admires the american pancakes ("Flapjacks as big as a saddle-blanket!"). The indian wants a suitcase just like Pierre. Slim finds a snail on his body ("Damn!") and throws it away. A closeup of it with flies on it ends the movie! This is out of memory, I'm propably leaving some out. Yes it's pretty bizarre, quite funny and very Lynch! Too bad very few of you will get to see this one. Does anyone have a list of Lynch'es productions? I know about Eraserhead, Dune, Elephant Man, Blue Velvet, Wild At Heart, Twin Peaks, that new sitcom, American Cronicles and A Cowboy And A Frenchman.
