Subject: Report from "Fire Walk With Me" on location (kinda long) From: rhaller@phloem.uoregon.edu (Rich Haller) Date: 1991-09-20, 12:38 Newsgroups: alt.tv.twin-peaks Visited Snoqualmie/North Bend on Monday and Wednesday (9/16,18). We almost gave up when we stumbled on them filming at a REALLY funky motel outside North Bend as someone has previously posted. I'll post a report on our visit later. For now, I'll give you some info on the shoot and tips on how to find them. We met two women, Nena and later, her friend, Debbie (?), who had been there everyday since the beginning between them. If one couldn't make it the other did. Debbie even cancelled a trip to Europe in order to be there for the whole shoot. Some of these tips are from Nena and Debbie. According to Nena and another source, they will be filming for about 2 more weeks, (say, until roughly Oct 2). Their day off is normally Sunday (hey, he's an eagle scout, right?). Cast members come and go, so who will be there is pretty much a crap shoot, except for Laura and David Lynch. When we left Wednesday, Jack Nance and Joan Chen had just arrived to shoot some scenes, but I don't know how long they will be there. James was there as well, shooting scenes with Laura. Ray Wise was there but we didn't see him. The OAM was there but not sure for how long. Looks like they may shoot some scenes with Mrs. Tremond and the creamed corn kid. I saw her character's name on a SAG sheet and David Lynch's son was around. Looked like they were going to shoot at the Mar-T on Friday since someone was touching up the paint on the sign and Debbie said it was going to be closed Friday. That would imply Norma and Shelly. Rumor was that both HST and Coop were expected before they completed shooting. Coop has, of course, already been there and gone. My advice to those who are going to visit the shoot is to go up to one of the security people, introduce yourself, ask them what the ground rules are for spectators and if you want to get an autograph or whatever, which cast members are open to that and how to approach them. In the long run, that may get you more than just barging in. They run around with headsets on and raise the hue and cry when it is time to be quiet for a shot. Just watch for a while and you'll figure out who they are. One is Craig MacLachlan. I didn't recognize him even though he politely, but firmly, moved me further away the first day we were there until my daughter and Debbie figured it out. If you meet him, tell him Rich, the guy from alt.tv.twin-peaks in the "Save the Pine Weasel t-shirt says 'Hi', and that I didn't recognize him without the pawn in his mouth. :-) Nena and Debbie warned us to stay away from 'blue hat' (you'll recognize him) and Julie (we weren't sure who she was), but said that most of the others were pretty good about answering questions like whether they are finished with this location and if so, where they will shoot next. If you are going to be there for more than one day, definitely try to find out where they will be the next day. If all else fails, Nena recommends waiting until they are through for the day and asking the truck drivers. If you run into Nena and Debbie, say hi for me. To find where they are shooting initially, cruise around the places that were in the series keeping your eyes peeled for a bunch of trucks and vans . Closed off streets and police stopping traffic are another clue. Just keep driving around and you'll find them eventually. Good luck! -Rich
